Aniseed Essential Oil - Pimpinella Anisum

The aniseed essential oil is from a herb, that is a member of the same family as several other herbs like dill and fennel. The plant is native to warm climates like Egypt and Greece, and is now grown in lots of other countries like Spain and Mexico. The seeds of the aniseed plant have a pleasant liquorice taste and because of this the aniseed is often used in the confectionery industry and for flavouring throat lozengers and cough preparations. The aniseed essential oil is obtained from the seeds by steam distillaton. The colour of the oil is pale yellow and the aniseed oil has a well known, sweet spicy aroma.

Aroma: Pungent, liquorice-like, very warming.

Blends well with: Cypress, cedarwood, rose, lavender, sweet orange, bay, caraway, coriander, rosewood, mandarin, fennel and pine.
