Bergamot essential oil has a popular light uplifting, refreshing citrus aroma with a light hint of florals, and a perfumery note of top. With this bergamot the essential oil is obtained by expressing, or squeezing the rind of the fruits, the fruits used resemble oval-shaped oranges. This variety that we sell is the bergaptene-free essential oil that is suitable for skin care and also home use, as it has the compounds reduced appropriately and will not cause phototoxicity. Bergamot trees grow up to about 15 feet high and are very much like the bitter orange tree and the lemon tree. The bergamot tree is related to the bitter orange and lemon trees.
