Cajeput oil is distilled from the buds and leaves. The oil has a perfumery top note with a penetrating medicinal aroma, the cajeput is also known as white tea tree and related to tea tree. Cajeput is native to Australia, India and malaysia and cultivated in tropical climates, particulary swamps. The cajeput is a very tall evergreen tree with white bark and white flowers. Commonly used in herbal medicine, in East and West alike, for the treatment of many complaints. The cajeput essential oil is obtained by steam distillation from the leaves and twigs of the cajeput plant. The cajeput oil is pale green to yellowish in colour and has a fresh, herbal and medicinal aroma. The oil has been traditionally used as tea and as an insect repellent and extensively by the pharmaceutical industry. It is also used as an ingredient in cosmetics, detergents and cough and cold preparations.

Latin name: Melaleuca leucadandron.

Family: Myrtaceae.

Plant part used: Tree/Leaves and twigs.

Extraction: By steam distillation of the tree, leaves and twigs.

Aroma: Sweet, herbaceous and rather penetrating.

Blends well with: Bergamot, cedarwood, cardamom, [LINK}, lavender, niaouli, nutmeg, rosewood, thyme, frankincense, geranium, eucalyptus, lavender and pine.>!!
