Camphor Essential Oil (Cinnamomum camphora)

Camphor Essential Oil (Cinnamomum camphora)

In stock

Camphor oil has a perfumery note of middle and is distilled from the wood of the tree. The camphor tree was traditionally used mainly in China for embalming. The camphor is mainly grown in Countries like China, Borneo, Sri Lanka, Madagascar and many other subtropical countries. The camphor is not usually extracted until the tree is about 50 years old when it is hardy enough. Then the wood is chipped of and boiled. The camphor resin then rises to the top of the surface and becomes solid when the water cools. The oil can then be steam distilled to obtain the camphor essential oil. The oil has long been used as an insecticide to repel most insects, particulary in moth balls.
