The cinnamon leaf essential oil is native to Sri Lanka and cultivated in India, Jamaica, Brazil, the Seychells and many other tropical countries. Our cinnamon leaf essential oil comes from Sri Lanka. The cinnamon leaf has been considered by the ancients to be one of the most important spices. The Chinese believed that no remedy or treatment was complete without cinnamon. It one of the oldest spices, used by the Romans, Egyptians and Greeks, and cinnamon was also mentioned in the Old Testament. The essential oil is distilled from the leaves and twigs of the plant to produce a sweet, pungent and bitter aromatic oil, which is dark yellow-brown in colour. The cinnamon leaf essential oil has a well known aroma of a rich, spicy, warming essential oil with an uplifting aroma. Its warm, spicy essense is often used in perfumery and cinnamon oil has been used in foods and drink. A popular ingredient in some dental products. Add cinnamon to spice up pot pourri.

Family: Lauraceae.

Plant part used: From the bark and leaf.

Extraction: By steam distillation of the leafs.

Aroma: Spicy, sharp, sweet and musky.

Blends well with: Orange, mandarin, neroli, rose, clove, coriander, frankincense, lavender, pine, rosemary, thyme, grapefruit, ginger and ylang ylang.
