The cumin plant is an annul herb, a member of he same plant family as the parsley seed, coriander and dill seed. Mainly cultivated in India and the Mediterranean, but the cumin originally comes from Egypt. Used as a spice in Indian cooking for its flavoursome seeds. The cumin essential oil is cultivated commercially in India, Spain and France. The cumin essential oil is obtained from the ripe seeds of the plant by steam distillation. The essential oil is yellow in colour and has a warm spicy aroma. Used in the food and drinks industry as a flavoring.

Aroma: Spicy, penetrating and pungent.

Blends well with: Angelica, Caraway, Lavender, Rosemary, Chamomile, and essential oils with an oriental flavour.
