Cypress Essential Oil (cupressus sempervirens)

Cypress essential oil has a middle perfumery note and a clear, warm, woody aroma with a hint of spice, a refreshing aroma. An evergreen tree that can grow up to 80 feet high with a conical shape that stays green all year round. The cypress essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of the needles and twigs. Cypress oil is widley used in the perfumery trade as an ingredient in perfumes and aftershaves.

Latin name: Cupressus sempervirens.

Family: Cupresaceae.

Plant part used: Tree/Leaves and Cones.

Extraction: By distillation of the tree, leaves and cones.

Aroma: Woody and slightly spicy yet clear and refreshing.

Oil combinations: Cypress oil will blend well with all of the citrus oils in tonics and massage blends, while the frankincense oil brings out the incense-like nature of the aroma.

Blends well with: Cedarwood, clary sage, lavender, cardomom, neroli, labdanum, marjoram, eucalyptus, lemon, pettitgrain, mandarin, pine, juniper, grapefruit, geranium, frankincense, sandalwood, rosemary and neroli.
