Dill seed oil is now grown all over the world but is native to the Mediterranean countries. The essential oil is grown in several countries, including Germany, France, Spain and England. A tall annual plant with feathery leaves and yellow flowers and produces large amounts of the small aromatic seeds. The flowers and seeds are uses extensively in cooking with its gentle flavour. The dill seed oil is obtained from the seeds by steam distillation. Dill seed oil can be used in a vaporizer, dill will blend with many essential oils to give a pleasant fragrance.

Latin name: Anethum graveolens.

Family: Umbelliferae.

Plant part used: The herbs and fruits are used.

Extraction: By the stem distillation of the herbs and fruits.

Aroma: A herby, almost like grass.

Blends well with: Bergamot, frankincense, cypress, geranium, mandarin, orange, rosemary, petitgrain and lemon
