Elemi Essential Oil (canarium luzonicum)

Elemi is a tropical tree that grows to about 100 feet high, which yields a resinous exudation from its trunk, and although it is called a gum, it is made up of mostly resin and essential oil. The essential oil is by steam distillation from the resin. Elemi is a colourless to a pale yellow colour with a light scent of lemon-like, soft, balsamic, incense-like, spicy aroma.

Latin name: Canarium luzonicum.

Family: Burseraceae.

Plant part used: The tree and bark parts of the plant are used.

Extraction: By stem distillation of the bark and tree parts.

Aroma: Citrus like aroma and a little spicy.

Blends well with: Bergamot, cedarwood, rosemary, myrrh, frankincense, rosemary, sage, cinnamon, spicy oils and Sandalwood.
