Ginger essential oil is extracted from the root of the ginger that has been ground. The tropical herbaceous perennial plant that grows in Africa, India, Japan and the Caribbean. Ginger oil has a warm, spicy aroma, that is stimulating and warming. The ginger plant has been used in culinary for many years by the ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans, and also in India, China and Japan. In aromatherapy the oil can be usede to help a variety of problems. A warming and toning oil. When used in massage, ginger is particularly beneficial. This warming oil extracted from ginger root helps to relax and revive fatigued muscles.

Latin name: Zingiber officinale.

Family: Zingiberaceae.

Plant part used: Herb and Rhizome.

Extraction: By distillation.

Aroma: A spicy, sharp, warm and pleasant fragrance, with a hint of lemon and pepper.

Blends well with: Cajeput, cinnamon, eucalyptus, frankincense, geranium, patchouli, rose oils, jasmine, bay and citrus oils.

How to use as a natural sports oil: To make a deeply warming, post-exercise massage oil for aching muscles, combine 5 drops of pure ginger essential oil with 5 drops of pure juniper berry and 5 drops of pure rosemary essential oil in 5tbsp of almond oil. After soaking in a hot bath for 20 minutes, massage into the arms, legs and other aching muscles using brisk rubbing movements.
