Juniperberry Himalayan Essential Oil (juniperus communis)

Juniperberry Himalayan Essential Oil (juniperus communis)

In stock

Juniper berry essential oil has a middle perfumery note and a refreshing, slightly woody scent. The tree is usually up to 15 feet high but can be anywhere between 5 and 15 feet high with fine needle leaves and small berries which turn to blue-black in successive years. The juniper tree is from the same family as the cypress tree with a similar aroma. This juniper berry essential oil is obtained through steam distillation of the berries and is considered of superior therapeutic quality to that of oils obtained from leaves and twigs. The juniper berries were often used by the ancient Egyptians and Greeks to ward off infections, and in England juniper berry was often burnt to scare of witches or demons. Mostly today the berries of juniper are commonly used to flavour gin.
