Labdanum is a small shrub that grows up to 3 metres in high with white and furry lance-shaped leaves. The labdanum essential oil is obtained by steam distillatin from the gum, the absolute, or the leaves and twigs of the plant. Labdanum is used as a fixative and fragrance component in lotions, soaps, powders, perfumes, especially oriental perfumes and aftershaves. Labdanum is a semi solid green, amber coloured gum with a sweet, rich, herbaceous-balsamic aroma.
