Neroli (Citrus aurantium) Floral Water

For many, many centuries, Neroli water has been believed to have a calming and anti-inflammatory effect on our bodies, and it has been documented that with continual use, it can imprve the appearance of scars and stretchmarks. It has a beautiful orange citrus scent, also ideal for relieving dry skin and leaving the body soft and smelling delicious.

Orange-flower water is a by-product of the process used to obtain the essential oil we know as neroli. Marie Antoinette is said to have used-orange-flower water as a skin tonic to improve her sallow complextion. Most orange-flower water available today is reconstituted from synthetic concentrate. The genuine product (collected directly from the still) is known as 'hydrolat' or 'hydrosol', but is only avaliable from specialist aromatherapy suppliers like Powells Aromatherapy (ours is the genuine product).

Benefits: Orange-flower water is slightly more astringent than rose-water and makes a good skin tonic or aftershave for oily complexions.

How to use: Mixed into home-made skin cream, toner or aftershave, the therapeutic properties of orange-flower water may be enhanced with a drop of essential oil chosen according to skin condition (e.g. 1 drop essential oil to 50ml orange-flower water).
