Source: By steam distillation of the berries of this evergreen shrub native to the northern hemisphere. Always use juniper berry for aromatherapy and perfumery, as the lower grade oil from the needles and wood has a harsh aroma.

Description and aroma: The juniper berry oil is a colourless liquid with a fresh, woody aroma reminiscent of the pine oil with a peppery kick. It is warming and calming.

Key qualities: Aphrodisiac, purifying, clearing, depurative, tonic (nerve), reviving, protective, restorative.

Blends well with: Bergamot, Cedarwood, Cypress, Clary Sage, Frankincense, Egyptian Geranium, Lavender, Pine, Rosemary and Sandalwood.
