Parsley seed essential oil is native to Asia Minor, with flat green leaves and yellow flowers - the stems reach about two feet in height, but parsley is now found all over the world with a temperate climate. The parsely is culitivated for its culinary uses that has been used in culinary for a very long time and is also used for its essential oil properties. The highest of the oil content comes from the ripe seeds but the oil is also obtained leaves and, occasionally from the roots that are also used for distillation of the parsley essential oil. Parsley seed essential oil has a warm, herbaceous, spicy aroma and is often used in herbal perfumes and cosmetic products.

Latin name: Petroselinum sativum.

Family: Umbelliferae.

Plant part used: The parsley oil is obtained from the leaves and seeds.

Extraction: Steam distillation.

Properties of Parsley Oil: Antiseptic, antispasmodic, aphrodisiac, digestive, carminative, sedative, tonic. Mind: An overburdened mind and jangling nerves can be helped from its cleansing and cooling actions. Body: Can help with cases of water retension during menstruation, as well as cases of cellulite and odedema. Parsley can help stimulate the kidneys and could clear cystitis and urinary stones. Effects on the skin: Helps to clear wounds and bruises by helping to stimulate the blood flow. And is thought to be a good tonic for scalp and hair - and parsley seems to keep head lice away.

Aroma: Has a herby aroma with spicy undertones.

Blends well with: Lavender, lemon, cypress, orange, ylang ylang, lime, mandarin, marjoram and rosemary essential oils.
