There are many varieties of the pine essential oil but the one we sell here is the one most favoured for aromatherapy use. An evergreen tree that grows to 110 feet and is found in Europe and the USA. The essense is obtained through steam distillation of the pine needles, thus the pine oil often referred to as pine needle. The tree also has edible pine kernels which come from the cones. The fragrance of pine is often used as a fragrance for bath oils and toiletries. The aroma is light, fresh and woody with a perfumery top/middle note. Pine oil was used by the ancient Greeks and Romans for many problems, as it is still used in saunas throughout Scandinavia. The needles of the pine tree were burnt to drive away incects and clean rooms of germs.

Pine oil for clearing negativity. A useful oil for clearing and reinvigorating atmospheres. One of the best remedies to counteract pollution of any sort.

Latin name: Pinus sylvestris.

Family: Pinaceae.

Plant part used: The pine oil is obtained from the needles and the young twigs and pine cones.

Extraction: The oil is extracted by dry distillation from the needles and cones.

Properties of Pine Oil: Antiseptic, antiphlogistic, decongestant, deodorant, restorative, stimulant, tonic. Mind: Pine oil gives a refreshing note to tired minds, good for feelings of weakness, general debility and mental fatigue. Body: Pine oil is a powerful antiseptic and very helpful in cases of bronchitis, larngitis and influenza. Pine oil is both warming and cooling, depending on the body's needs.

Aroma: The pine oil has a strong, fresh forest fragrance.

Blends well with: Cedarwood, clove, cypress, silver fir, myrtle, eucalyptus, marjoram, myrrh, orange, peppermint, rosemary, sandalwood, tea tree, ylang ylang and niaouli.
