Rosewood Essential Oil (aniba rosaeodora)

The rosewood essential oil is extracted from the tropical, evergreen tree by steam distillation and is extracted by steam distillation. The essental oil is colourless or a very pale yellow colour, with a subtle, rich fragrance with both floral and woody, with spicy undertones. It is mainly grown commercially in Brazil and Peru. Rosewood being most valued for the fragrant wood, used for 19th century English furnature making. Today the wood can be used for making chopsticks, as well as the oil being used in some soaps and toiletries and to flavour foods and drink. The rosewood essential oil has a sweet, floral, woody aroma that is soothing, calming, sensual and relaxing. Rosewood is a reputedly safe oil, being non-toxic, non-sensitizing, non-irritant in all its actions. The oil is mildly analgesic, and very effective in helping to clear headaches, especiall if they are allied to slight nausea, for rosewood certainly clears the mind. And at the same time, it has a steadying effect in the nerves, and this is especially useful durnig exams, or even when driving long distances. With skincare: being a helpful oil because its antiseptic and bactericidal this makes it useful in treating acne, and because of its gentle nature it is good for most sensitive skins. The oil is often used in commercial bath skincare products because of its deodorant properties and its delightful fragrance makes it particulary well-suited to these such uses. Rosewood essential oil is a special oil and is ideal for its antidepressant and uplifting properties. Rosewood Oil Properties: Rosewood oil has analgesic, antidepressant, antiseptic, aphrodisiac, deodorant, insecticide, tonic and stimulating properties. Mind: It is said to stabilize the central nervous system and could have a balancing effect. May help when feeling low, over-burdened and weary - rosewood oil gives an uplifting, enlivening effect. A deodorising action helps the body cope with excess heat and moisture. Can also help to be a valuable insect repellent. Effects on the skin: Helpful with dry skin, inflamed and sensitive skins. Its balancing and warming action may be valuable for hydrated conditions as well.

Aroma: Rosewood oil has a sweet, floral, woody and slightly spicy undertones, the complex fragrance works well on its own with no need for blending, but can be blended if needed.

Blends well with: cedarwood, coriander, frankincense, hyacinth, rose, sandalwood, palmarosa, patchouli, petitgrain, rosemary and Vetiver.
