Cedarwood essential oil is similar to the sandalwood oil, was used by Egyptians in the embalming process. The cedarwood essential oil has been highly prized for its antiseptic properties and has now become an important ingredient in cosmetics. The red cedar is mainly used for the production of the oil. The cedar is grown in North Africa and the USA for the highly valued, fragrant wood. The essential oil of cedarwood virginian is extracted from the waste woods by steam distillation, the aroma of cedarwood is often referred to as being reminicent of wooden pencils, the aroma being woody, like sandalwood but a little 'dryer'. The oil blends well with cypress, juniper berry and rose and is ideal for inhalation and massage. Increases sexual response.

Family: Cupressaceae/Pinaceae.

Extraction: Distillation from the tree and wood.

Aroma: Woody, reminiscent of Sandalwood but a slightly dryer fragrance.

Blends well with: Bergamot, Black Pepper, Clary Sage, Frankincense, Hyacinth, Cypress, Lavender, Neroli, Rosewood and Ylang Ylang.
