Olive Oil Carrier Oil (Olea europa)

The plant: The oilve tree is silvery green, growing to a height of about 25 feet and live to a long age. It is native to the Mediterranean region but also grows in many other places, like Italy, Spain, France, Greece, Tunisia and more.

Therapeutic properties: Olive oil has properties of being calming, demulcent and emollient. Good for burns, sprains, bruises, insect bites, relieves itching of the skin.

The oil: Olive oil is slightly green.

Extraction method: Just like the avocado oil, olive oil is obtained from the flesh of the fruit. The picked fruits are left in the sun, whereupon they are gently crushed, and the flesh is pressed. The oil is then centrifuged and filtered for clarity. The first portion is known as virgin olive oil.
