The violet essential oil is distilled from the fresh flowers and leaves of the perennial plant. It is grown for the essential oil in southern France, Italy and China. Most of the essential oil comes from France & Egypt. The aroma of the violet essential oil is delicate, sweet, soothing with a light floral fragrance. Violet leaf is an excellent oil for home use. Violet Leaf is antiseptic, and has healing properties which is valuable in the treating of skin problems, especially oily skin, acne, and large pores. The essential oil is reported to have pain-killing properties. due to the presence of salicylic acid.

Family: Violaceae.

Plant part used: The flowers and leaves are used for the essential oil extraction.

Extraction: By enfleurage method.

Properties of Violet Essential Oil: Antiseptic, aphrodisiac, emetic, expectorant, sedative. Mind: With its sedative properties it will help overcome insomnia and help to banish feelings of anger and anxiety. Body: Helps to alleviate congestion of the head, and will help with dealing with headaches. Supposedly a strong aphrodisiac, beneficial to sexual problems, reputedly restoring libido. Also thought to have some pain killing properties and may help to ease rheumatism ans gout. Effect on the skin: Useful in treating wounds, bruises, swellings, congested skin and inflammation. Aroma: Delicate, dry, sweet, floral and somewhat hay-like

Blends well with: Orange, lemon, neroli, melissa, peppermint, geranium, lime, rose, ylang ylang and spearmint. Please note that although this oil is used in perfumes, it has a herbaceous rather than floral aroma.
